Doll Quilt Swap II: Pieced Top

Quilt_swap_ii_top
Okay, I've finished the majority of sewing for the quilt top. (Forgive the poor lighting, but I was pretty happy with how it turned out and wanted to show it off.) I only have to add a border, quilt it and then bind it. But I'll leave that little bit for when my swap partner receives the quilt. Something should be surprise, shouldn't it?

Squaring_up_braidIt's amazing what squaring up a quilt block, or in this case braid, can do. The striped fabric is a Liberty lawn from a couple of years ago. I'm finally breaking into it from my fabric stash. Oh and there's been talk of Kaffe Fassett's shot cotton over at Be*mused and other sites lately. The little "solid" green is one that I had in a fat quarter bundle. It's very nice although it's weight is more akin to that of the Liberty lawn. They sewed up well together. I may have to keep an eye out for other colors of it. But it's definitely something that's best left for quilting or other projects where it'll have more support.

I just found you through Raesha. You have some very pretty photos and this is a very lovely quilt!

Oh, it's lovely! The placement of the values makes so much more sense now that I can see the whole thing!

Really beautiful. I have so much to learn about design and color. You are making something very special.

Liberty and batiks? Genius! I love the way your top turned out. Such a cool design.

Oh wow it turned out beautifully.

Nice. I could eat that quilt up! :-D

I'm still madly in love with this!

That's so pretty! Love the colors you have put together.

I love it! I am sure your swap partner will think it's worth the wait!

Your swap partner LOVES Purple Rain. I arrived home tonight (in the rain, I might add) and there was a package for me at the top of the stairs. I carefully opened the package, read the card and unwrapped the quilt. The quilt is absolutely stunning! Adding the stitching at the bottom is a great addition to the quilt. The quilt is hanging on my design wall until I can find a home for it. Thanks for participating in the swap.

Hey Tami- did you have the tutorial for this quilt? I need something for the doll Group on Flickr for March/April Challenge. I think this would be great!
