I know, it's taken a loooong time to get her finished (I started way back in 2007 when I attended the last Doll U in Seattle) but the Gossips Doll is finally done! Yay! She has a stand too. She was part of a doll workshop that I took from Leslie Molen of Rootie Studio but she's also available as a pattern here.
Her clothing is made from batiks, silk shantung, microsuede and a fine cotton lawn and cotton eyelet trim found at the thrift store. Her hair is made from mohair which is caught up in a fine netting snood. She has beads, buttons, feathers and ribbons from head to toe. I couldn't let her shoes go unnoticed so I had her pick up her dress a bit to show it off. Naughty girl also wanted to show just a bit of her petticoat too. Although she can stand up by herself, I didn't feel comfortable putting her on a shelf somewhere just balanced on those two little shoes. After all we do live in California, home to earthquakes. So I made her a stand with a nice checkerboard floor.
What do you think of her? Should she have a name? What should it be?

She's gorgeous! It has been so fun to watch your progress on her. As a non-doll maker, I don;t think I'd know where to start, so I've really enjoyed seeing her personality emerge as you've created/assembled her. I think she needs a literary or classically English name. She could be a Constance perhaps.

I think she should be called Constance..as you stuck with her for such a long time.

She turned out beautifully. She looks very English like a lady from the courts. So an English name would suit her. Constance sounds great or I was thinking of Henrietta.

Thanks for all the lovely compliments! Hmm, yes I think you're right - she should have a rather English name. How about Lady Henrietta Constantine? Sorry, I like Louise but in my mind it goes more to the Italian Louisa - I'll have to save that for another doll.
