If you're interested in dolls then you just may have heard of the artist Nancy Wiley. She's made gorgeous one-of-a-kind dolls that have been featured in magazines in years past. Perhaps you remember the cover of George magazine where Demi Moore was dressed in a red/white pannier dress holding a George Washington marionette? That was a take off of one of Nancy's dolls. What you may not realize at first is that Nancy's dolls are painted - costume, face, everything. She's fascinated by the Impressionist style of painting and has used that in her sculpted dolls. It may be better to say that she's more of a 3-D portrait painter.
Nancy wondered what it would be like to take a trip to Wonderland. The result is a beautiful version of Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, Illustrated by Nancy Wiley with painted backdrops and painted dolls.
There's a fantastic two-part interview by Elizabeth de Almeida about Nancy and her book at examiner.com: Part one, and part two.
This is one must-have book for Alice and doll-lovers everywhere. Dolls and books available for sale at www.wonderlandbook.com.
