The pieces have been cut and now are laid out on the studio floor. (Note to self: need to put up design wall felt on closet doors!) I'm pretty happy with how it's turning out. Since this picture I changed one or two of the bars to add a bit more contrast. I even like how straight they are. I may make only a few crooked when sewing them. What do you think? Will this be a good quilt for a little boy?
These will be the backing and binding fabrics. I'm toying with the idea of making some "windows" on the front with a couple of the zoo animal circles showing through. Sort of an I-spy effect. Should I go for that?

It's so rich and beautiful! Love those fabrics. I think a "window", or even circle appliques of some of the animals on the front would be adorable. What a perfect binding fabric, too! Any little boy would love it.

That's going to be a great boy quilt! I like Cheri's idea of circle appliques too. Though, even just a few strips of the animal fabric would be fun too.

Excellent choice of fabrics and colors. A very far cry from our old fashioned baby pastels. How refreshing! I too like the idea you have of peeking through to see some of the animals. Looking forward to seeing the finished quilt. :o)

Gorgeous lush and rich colours. Perfect for the modern little fella. I actually wouldn't put any windows in, as I think they'd detract from the strong geometric lines going on here. The quilt will be pretty much reversible with such a fab backing that the baby can use both sides. Gorgeous and unusual!

What great rich colors. And this can be used by the child beyond the pastel baby stage.

I love the animal print. Definitely kid, but not overly cute.
