My living room is done in all shades of blue: cream walls with an 8" two-tone stripe near the ceiling, dark blue sofa and two denim blue recliners. It needed something extra, another color as an accent. Since our front door is a rusty orange I decided that orange would be our accent. How would I get that punch of orange into the room? Well, I've always wanted to make a quilt that I got to keep. (All the others have been baby quilts for friends and family ... I have to make another one as we speak, but that is for another day.)
I also wanted to use batiks in the quilt ... so after spending an hour at my LQS I bought a range of fabrics from the deepest dark blue to a light slate blue. Also included were three oranges: red, red-orange and a yellowy orange batik.
This is what I've done so far:
I need to add two borders to it - a narrow orange one followed by a 5" wide dark blue one. Then I'll quilt it.
