These are the pieces that I cut out on Monday (or Tuesday?) for the baby quilt. I originally wanted to do a very complex quilt with applique borders, but since things were a bit hectic I opted to go with a much more simpler pattern. I used the Later, Alligator pattern from Alex Anderson's book baby quilts with love which is really a flying geese pinwheel.
Here's the blue-green flying geese sections:
And here's the top ready for quilting:
I'm using white polka dot minkee as the backing fabric. I just can't get enough of this fabric for baby quilts. I know that it's polyester, not cotton, but it's ultra softness is too good to pass on. I used this for the quilt for my nephew last year and my brother calls it cloud fabric. :-) I'll machine quilt it this week and drop it off to my friend's house. Unfortunately I was driving back from LA so I missed the baby shower yesterday. Since I'm already late with this, I figured that I'd try making a Wee Wonderfuls Bunny out of the scraps to go with the quilt. I'm still undecided as to which softie to make for back-tack III. I have gobs of fabric now ... I'll have to post all of them tomorrow. I think next week I'll have to make different softies to decide which pattern to use. How many people are going with a pattern other than the three choices given to us?
On another note, it's beautiful up here in Northern California today .. lots of sun and warm air! I'll be home for a bit .. my Dad was discharged from the hospital, but he'll have to go back in for open-heart bypass surgery in a few weeks. I'll go back down to LA for that, but in the meantime I need to get stuff done up here.
I missed my DH this past week! And the fence guys came and replaced the back fence, which was being held up by 4x4s and a prayer. I have to get it primered and painted to match the side fences. Then hopefully our sod will come in soon. Yay, to have a backyard while it's sunny!
