This is where we spent a good portion of the weekend, at the Willow Springs International Raceway in Rosamond, CA. Steve found out about a track day that was scheduled by a few of the Chrysler 300 guys. That's him in his car, the mighty 300 SRT with V8 hemi engine, on the straight-away. I think he got to 125 mph or so. Do you see his white helmet?
He had loads of fun and learned a lot. One of the instructors was Bob Reed who it turns out had won the 24 hours of Daytona race back in the early 80s. It was obvious that this man knew how to tame this twisty track. During the lunch break all the drivers were allowed to drive their friends on the track at 55 mph. Wow! That was a blast being on the track. It's not as easy as it looks from the pits.
Speaking of pit stops, I couldn't resist taking a quick snap of the "House of Charmin".
