Call me crazy or a glutton for punishment, but when Margaret, the hostess behind the Four Seasons Quilt Swap, announced that she was hosting a quilt round robin for Spring I had to sign up. This looks like it will be a lot of fun, not to mention a great opportunity to try out different quilt techniques on a small scale.
There will be sets of four quilters. The first makes a 8" square quilt block (no embellishments, but piecing, applique and/or embroidery are all acceptable) and sends it to the 2nd quilter with a small piece of fabric. The second quilter makes a 2 1/2" border using that fabric and some that they've added. This is sent to the third quilter with fabric who makes a 3 1/2" border using that fabric and some that they've chosen. This is then sent with a backing fabric to the fourth quilter who quilts, binds and sews on the label. The finished quilt is then sent off to its final home. So sometime in June everyone who signed up will receive a 20" square quilt that's been made by four people.
Sign-ups are until February 24th or until she gets 25 quilters. You must have a blog to participate so that people can see your progress. (Or have previously participated in the Fall or Winter quilt swap.) The theme is Spring and there's no color specifics. Obviously the entire feeling of the quilt revolves around that all important first 8" square. Sounds like a lot of fun. Are you game? Go here and sign-up.
