The publishers at Cloth Paper Scissors/Quilting Arts are hosting a blog studio tour to celebrate the newest issue of Studios magazine. So I frantically cleaned my studio. You really didn't want to see the huge pile of fabrics leftover from my last two projects, did you? It covered the cutting table. Now there's just two small stacks of current projects - one for my sculpted doll which is this close to being completed and another stack of the monochromatic quilt blocks from the summer block swap.
The view from the door - fabric stash closet on the right, sewing desk in front and a bit of the cutting table:
Cutting table, magazine bookcase and dolls (a few made by me, others from swaps), and a snippet of the printing area (papers, labels, and my serger are stored behind the curtain):
View of the computer desk and hutch - shelf with my favorite reference books. On top are fancy boxes that store my UFOs/WIPs so that I don't forget them and my pot-bellied mandolin from Italy:
And finally the lateral filing cabinet and second clear surface for projects plus my quilt from a dear friend made as part of a swap:
So can you tell what my favorite colors are yet? It's a little bit chaotic - there's always room for improvements. I consider my studio to be a living space, not static, so it changes as I discover new ways to organize it. Once the beads and buttons were organized I suddenly found that they showed up in my work more often.
Okay, I tried to make a quick video tour but the quality is lacking due to the poor lighting. But it'll give you a better feel for the size of the room.
