More Mosaic Progress

This is a very slow process but it's coming along. I decided that it wasn't working as well to just lay the fabric pieces onto the fusible batting background. I fused quite a bit of fabric with Misty Fuse and that seems to give me a better result. Next time I try this I will skip the fusible batting and just use some quilter's muslin instead.

Quilt Mosaic Beginning

I've been inspired by Terri Stegmiller of StegArt's stunning mosaic quilts that she's made and thought that it would be an interesting technique to try. So far it's not as easy to achieve as I first thought. But that's okay, I think by the time that this project is finished that it'll look great. Unfortunately it won't be finished in time for Steve's birthday tomorrow. He'll just have to be happy with a sneak peek instead.

String Block Sketchbook

Yay! Finally I have completed my string block sketchbook cover. Now I have one item for Stephanie's No Strings Attached Challenge. It's very wild and vibrant with all this variety of fabrics from my scrap box. Yet the scrap box is still overflowing even after taking quite a bit of it to the temple quilting bee for a Chinese Coin quilt project. I didn't want to piece the lining so I've used one of my larger fabrics from my stash. It seems like a lot of the stash consists of fat quarters or 3/8 yd pieces with only a few yard cuts here and there. That extra pieced block didn't go to waste. It was halved and then sewn to create the flap portion. To round out the flaps I used a bit left over from the living room's place mat-into-pillows project. It's so nice when you get to use all those extra bits and bobs to create something entirely new.
