I've been slowly adding beads to the costume pieces of the Christine Shively doll. Sorry, she's not done yet but here's a few pictures of the beads. Isn't it amazing how much they add to the already gorgeous fabrics?!
Beaded stomacher - picot edging
Beaded fringe on the skirt - I redid the skirt by sewing the two fabrics together into one piece rather than keep the two separate. It really makes it come alive. I didn't have any beading thread other than the white Silamide and it was too much of a contrast. Instead I used this blue quilting thread. It seemed to do the job alright.
Now this isn't something I beaded, but rather a lovely beaded ribbon scrap that I had. The ribbon is sheer so the effect is a very subtle anklet. Now I can't wait to make her some shoes.

It's been such a long time since I've shown pictures of Fearghus. He's grown sooooo much since we first got him at the beginning of summer. He'll be 7 months old next week! He's in Puppy II class but is testing our limits at times. We know that he's capable of obeying but a lot of times it now depends on whether he wants to obey. We're still giving him treats to reward good behavior. Of course he's a Cairn Terrier and being independent is part of his charm. ;-)
We've taken him with us on all the little RV road trips these past months: visiting family in LA, Lake Havasu AZ, day trips through Hoover Dam, Las Vegas (oooh, I'll have to show you pictures of the glamorous costumes from the now closed Liberace museum - fantastic inspirations) and short weekend trips anywhere in California.
For now here's a few shots of Fearghus on his favorite place, the family room futon, taken in October when he was around 6 months old. His beard is wet from drinking water which he drips all over the family room floor.
He still likes to lay on the vent to get some cool air from the A/C after a long hot walk. But now he's so long that you can't even see the vent anymore!
We love him! Steve's been talking about getting him a brother sometime later next year. Well, Fearghus does enjoy playing with the other puppies at puppy social. He's graduated to the earlier time with the older pups. Of course he'd like to play with the big ones (the rotties, shepards, etc); however, just because he has the heart of a big dog doesn't mean that he has the body of one. So he has to make do with the medium sized ones - who still are twice his size! Ah, our Fearghus is well named indeed.
