Things have been crazy around here not the least of which is that Steve fell and cracked his ribs when we were out walking Fearghus with Miss L & Miss J. (Note to self: don't use a 20' leash again until AFTER we're safely at the park.) In the midst of the madness I've been chipping away little by little on the quilt for the DQS10 hosted on flickr. Here's a few pictures along the way.
You remember the design? Here it is again for a refresher:
Next came the fabric auditions ... pretty nice ...
maybe this one is better?
or this one?
How about a mix of some of Fabric choice no2 added to no3. Yes, that'll work! Then came the cutting out of lots and lots of little leaves.
(The shadow underneath is from the full-scale cartoon drawn on freezer paper that's my placement guide.)
Next came the little birds ...
Finally it was time to start piecing the wonky log cabin border blocks ...
and some more ...
and finally all blocks are done!
Now I'm letting it sit on the cutting table while I think about the block placement. I may switch a few of them around before I sew them together and then get to the hard part ... the quilting! And this is the little pile of trimmings left over from squaring all those blocks. They're so cute that I hate to throw them away but they're too small to be of any use.
If you're wondering how Fearghus is doing, here's a short video of him and his absolutely favorite toy in the world, the teaser ball.
