Last month I was in a sewing mood so I jumped at the chance to participate in the 3rd round of the Pretty Little Pouch Swap (PLPS3) on flickr. What a fun thing to sew. I quickly drafted a pattern (basically a rectangle on the fold with three sections). I may have gone overkill on the interfacing since I used two layers next to the top (first a muslin then a horsehair interfacing) and then the lining has a fusible interfacing on it. Yeesh, it was a bit difficult pulling it through the hole after sewing it together. But on the flip side, it stands very nicely all by itself... even when empty! Once again I used a 3-D fabric origami flower from Rebecca Wat's book Fantastic Fabric Folding. It seems to be my go-to accent for quilts and whatnots. There's also quite a bit of hand-embroidery and beads. I also used FlossieTeaCake's lined zipper tutorial for her lovely tip about adding the extensions to the zipper so that it looks nicer. I wonder what my swap partner is going to use it for. :-)
