Today I took a tour of the
eQuilter.com facility in Boulder, CO with some members of the Boulder Modern Quilt Guild and the Fort Collins Modern Quilt Guild. The founder/owner Luana Rubin came out and spoke with us about her background in fashion and how she came to run one of the first successful online source for contemporary quilting fabrics and supplies. Once we went into the warehouse it was eye candy overload. Metal shelving housed thousands of bolts of fabric all sorted by color and manufacturer. It was wonderful to see! They even have a stunning corner of Kaufman Kona solids. In addition to all the fabrics they have a huge selection of notions, books, and magazines (even the international ones). If you're local they have a retail pick-up option instead of shipping. Of course for me the 90 minute drive would negate the practicality of doing this, but it's a very nice service for all of you who live in Boulder or Denver. I love that this is a family run company and that they believe so strongly in supporting charity. They give 2% of their sales to one of seven charities. Since the inception of the company they've donated over a million dollars. So if you're in the market for a specific fabric and your LQS doesn't carry it (we do have to support our LQS) swing by eQuilter.com and check out their huge inventory. Don't yell at me if you end up spending hours scrolling through their site.
