Last week I managed to begin cutting out the rectangles for the Fractured Quilt. I just love the stacks of rectangles. These are very much my favorite colors and I can't wait to see if the finished quilt will match up with what I have in mind.
I'm not one for leaving much up to chance so I've arranged the rectangles in the two main colors - darks and brights. Then I paired them up in groups of four (8 sets) and the remainder in fives for the majority of the blocks. The plan is to sew up the Fractured Quilt blocks first and then use the leftovers for the Red Centre Quilt and sew extras as needed.
During our little snow storm I began sewing the rectangles. The best way to sew these pairs is by chain piecing. I have a bit of an assembly line going. First I'll sew up the pairs, press them, trim them to squares, sew them into the blocks and then arrange them for the quilt.
In between sewing these I'm still working on Rachel's dolls. I'm leaving the heads for last but hope to show pictures of the progress soon. They're taking longer than I anticipated but the new goal is to get them done by the new year.
