I have to admit that the progress has been slow on these cloth dolls that I'm designing for my friend's granddaughters. I had a certain vision of what I wanted to make and have had to change a few details here and there. Instead of making a ruffled skirt I lived with a touch of tulle and kept the ruffles on the leggings. At the beginning of last week this is what was done: body and legs sewn and stuffed and leggings and skirts.
But the poor things just looked so naked without a top and I had to figure out what to make. In the end I went with a sleeveless t-shirt knowing that I'd have to come up with some type of cardigan to top it off. After that I had to go ahead and stuff her arms and attach them. Finally I've painted the basic shape of shoes on her feet. I'll go back and add a bit of detail to those later today. So without further adieu here's the dolls as they look right now.
Aren't their hands sweet?
And the embellishment on the shirt is just some raw edge circle flower applique with beads and tulle.
As more and more things come together on the dolls they begin to look like little people. I'm still saving the best part for last ... making the face. It's starting to look like I will be able to get this to-do item done by the end of the year. Yippee!
