I can't believe that it's the year 2014 already. How in the world did time fly by? Our 2013 started and ended on two different notes. We were still in CA last January but had already planned on this move to WY. So far it's been quite an adventure in learning how to adjust from CA weather needs (okay, hardly any beyond the occasional wind-breaker or cardigan) to that of a place that has snow in the winter. Yes, I know that we're being wimps because there are lots of places in the US East that have tremendous amounts of snow and cold. But come on, for a California girl when it gets to 14 below zero like it did a few weeks ago, well that's COOOOOLD!
I joined two quilt guilds, the Cheyenne Heritage Quilters here in town and the Fort Collins Modern Quilt Guild in Colorado. They have two different agendas but both have been a lot of fun to attend meetings. I'm slowly starting to get to know members of both guilds. The FCMQG members use instagram a lot so I've signed up for an account and have a few pics here and there. I do find that it's a great way to get instant feedback on what I'm working on without getting out my camera. The pics are still not as good but they're decent. If you want to follow me, I'm lemontreetami.
I've also discovered how much I enjoy longarm quilting and have quilted four quilts so far. As soon as I get the Fractured quilt pieced I'll go and have another go at it. I'd like to plan on doing at least one quilt a month.
No, all the UFOs on my to-do list did not get finished but I'm making progress and that's a good thing. Of course the studio is a mess and sadly I have the pictures to prove it. I'd rather get some projects done than spend a day cleaning it up.
Here you can see my make shift doll portrait studio. I'll have to remember to get my photo cube the next time we go to the storage space in CA.
No resolutions for 2014 other than to really get a handle on those UFOs and get more quilt tops made so that I can quilt them on the longarm. Oh and I really need to do more walking ... sometimes the altitude here gets to me and I need to get a bit healthier. So what are your plans for 2014?
