Yes, our experiment in prairie living is about to come to an end. We'll be leaving Wyoming behind at the end of May. Steve will still be working for the same company but he'll be mostly out of the CA office with some travel back to Cheyenne. It's been a grand time experiencing the type of weather that we've never had before in either LA or the San Francisco areas - lots of snow, extremely strong winds, a few below zero days. I can't say that I'll miss that but I will miss the huge sky and our animal neighbors (horses, a mule, a donkey, a herd of alpaca for a week, chickens, a pig, some goats, the occasional antelope and of course the prairie dogs, rabbits and jack rabbits). It was the first time for either Steve or me to live in the countryside. I'll also miss all the welcoming ladies at both quilt guilds, the one in Cheyenne and the one in Fort Collins, CO. Luckily my friend Wendy and I will be able to keep in touch via email and phone calls.
What I'm looking forward to in CA - the glorious weather! being only a short drive away from the ocean, our backyard with lush grass and the lemon tree, being a half day drive away from family, being near our friends, and having 12, yes count them, 12 quilt shops within an 1 1/2 hr drive. Two of them are in my town alone. Yay!
Thank goodness we found out before my new longarm machine was delivered. That will be another adventure all by itself. I'll keep you posted about its arrival soon. I'm sewing up quilt tops to get ready for it.
We don't regret this past year at all. As I said, it's been a grand experiment and we've met some fantastic people. Wyoming, you welcomed us with open arms. Thank you for being so nice to two California guests.
